A couple of weeks ago I got a call at work. I was quite surprised because I never get calls at work. I was barely able to get "hello" out before this lady starts talking to me about some computer program she tried to install and how she couldn't get it to work and she emailed some people about it but they haven't gotten back to her yet. She went on for five minutes without letting me get a word in to tell her that I had no idea what the heck she was talking about. Finally she stops talking and I tell her that she called the wrong department because I work in books and records and that I don't know anything about computer software. And she was like "you don't?!" Then she starts telling me again about the people she emailed and how they haven't gotten back to her. This went on for another five minutes and I could not convince her that I didn't know what she was talking about because she refused to believe me. Finally I just transferred her to my supervisor, but she wasn't at her desk so the stupid lady just called me back. I eventually had to put Pat on the phone to convince her that I genuinely couldn't help her. So when my phone rang again this morning I was not thrilled. Sure enough it's that stupid woman again! And again she goes on about the computer program and how she emailed the people and they haven't emailed her back yet. I could not believe it! So I go through it all again that I have no idea what she's talking about. This is the conversation we had:
Me: I'm sorry but I work in books and records and I don't know anything about computer software.
Stupid Woman: You don't?!
Me: No I'm sorry.
SW: Who can help me with my problem then?
Me: I'm not sure.
SW: You can't help me?
Me: No I don't work with computer software.
SW: Well I emailed these people about (here she described the problem again) and they haven't emailed me back yet.
Me: Well I'm sorry, but again I really don't know anything about it.
SW: You don't how to fix the program?
Me: I'm going to transfer you to my supervisor now. Good bye
That was a considerably shortened version of our little chat, but she went on for so long asking me about the darn program she was trying to install and repeatedly asking me how to fix it I figured I would just summarize. But seriously, did she think I was just lying to her and refusing to help? I'll be sure to keep you updated if she decides to call me again.
